About

Hello, my name is Carly Silver.

I'm a freelance writer, ancient historian, Thoroughbred racing journalist, and book editor living and working in Brooklyn, New York. These disparate interests all convene in my passions for bringing them to live in different media.

Currently, I am the assistant editor for Harlequin Romantic Suspense. I've worked there since graduating summa cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University, in 2012, majoring in religion and minoring in ancient studies. My undergraduate thesis focused on cultural hybridization present in Romano-British curse tablets in ancient Bath. Curses on your house!

As an ancient historian, I have written for The Atlantic, Smithsonian, Atlas Obscura, Ranker.com, and Ancient Origins, among others. As a pedigree analyst and horse racing expert, I first wrote a column for The Blood-Horse at age 13; I regularly contribute to The Blood-Horse and The Thoroughbred Daily News.
